Mastering
Mastering is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from the source (the Final Mix), to a encoded digital audio file (the Master), from which all copies will be produced or duplicated. This is where levels are balanced, frequencies receive finishing touches, and any other problems with the mix are addressed. The source material, ideally at the original resolution, is processed using equalization, compression, limiting and other processes.
Stereo mastering is the final process before a song is released to the public. Files submitted for mastering should be in the highest resolution available, and in .WAV or .AIFF format. Additionally, for the best possible masters, remove any processing such as compression or limiting from the Mix Bus / Master, and keep the highest peak-level of each song at approximately -6dB. This allows us enough headroom to best sculpt the dynamics and overall sound of your songs. Dither should not be applied.
